Insurance Coverage and “Bad Faith”

Practice-Insurance Over the last decade insurance coverage disputes have become one of the fastest growing areas of civil litigation, both in Illinois and nationally. Cunningham, Meyer & Vedrine is certainly no stranger to Illinois’ Chancery Courts, and to the handling of declaratory judgment, bad faith and actions. We have served as counsel for insurance companies in cases involving multi-million dollar environmental coverage disputes, as well as less complex cases. The firm also regularly represents major insurance carriers in so-called “bad faith” litigation coverage disputes, usually involving millions of dollars, and acts as reviewing counsel for other major carriers to ensure large exposure cases are being handled properly by assigned counsel.

Our attorneys have frequently provided advice to our clients regarding insurance coverage and tender of defense issues. Our defense of various health care providers in medical negligence cases, with the accompanying morass of professional corporations, hospital and HMO affiliations, contractual relationships, etc., have mandated that we develop a keen understanding of coverage-related issues.
