Our Philosophy – Professionalism with Personal Attention
Since the inception of Cunningham, Meyer & Vedrine, the preeminent philosophy of the firm is that the client has a right to know how they are being represented in a litigation matter, and who the team members are that are being assembled to achieve a successful outcome. We encourage our clients to have constant input in the management of the case, and become an involved part of the litigation process. It is our belief that the client is an important and valued member of the litigation team.
We instill this tenet within our attorneys, who are exceptionally talented, creative and experienced litigators, whether in mediation, arbitration or trial forums. This synergism between client and attorney allows us to provide superior legal litigation representation that many people mistakenly believe can be only provided by large, national firms, whose focus may not singularly be within the litigation field. We believe that focused litigation expertise should be valued, not diluted, by the promise of being “all things for all people.” As a consequence, no client, and no matter, how big or small the issue may appear to be, receives nothing less than the total commitment and focus of our firm.
Creative Approaches to Controlling Litigation Costs
Obtaining favorable results in litigation is not enough, in and of itself, to be responsive to the needs of our clients. Results must be obtained in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Our extensive litigation experience allows us to quickly evaluate a matter to determine if it can be amicably and favorably resolved at an early stage, consistent with the goals and intent of the client.
We keep clients involved in every step of the process, including consideration of the use of alternative dispute resolution methods, and when appropriate, early resolution. Further, while our partners do involve themselves throughout every stage of the litigation process, and aggressively represent your interests at every stage, we recognize that clients should not pay excessive fees for the involvement of litigation partners while, in reality, certain aspects of litigation can be ably and expertly handled by senior associates. Thus, it is our belief that we can provide excellent litigation management of a lawsuit, with the final review of costs being acceptable and beneficial to the client.
Our Fee Policy and Structure
We try to keep our fee policy and structure very simple and understandable. In this expensive age of litigation, we are well aware of the cost sensitivities of our clients. As such, we stand ready to discuss alternative billing strategies with those clients and in those situations where such alternatives would be feasible. Our goal is to build long-term relationships with our clients founded upon mutual trust.
